Special Education Impact Cohort
A Year-Long Instructional Impact Framework
Strengthening Special Education Instruction Through Structured Implementation

The SEIC Model™ (Special Education Impact Cohort) is LaunchED’s signature year-long professional learning framework designed to strengthen special education practice and drive measurable academic outcomes for students with disabilities.
Unlike one-time professional development, the SEIC Model™ is built around sustained implementation, structured accountability, and collaborative problem-solving. The model blends high-touch in-person alignment with structured virtual support to ensure professional learning translates into consistent classroom practice.
The focus is simple: instructional clarity, implementation fidelity, and measurable impact.

Why the SEIC Model™ Matters
Many schools invest in professional development but struggle with:
• Inconsistent implementation of specially designed instruction
• Misalignment between IEP goals and daily instruction
• Co-teaching breakdowns
• Compliance stress and documentation inefficiencies
• Teacher burnout driven by unclear systems

The SEIC Model™ addresses these challenges through a structured, phased approach that builds shared language, aligned systems, and sustainable instructional practice.

The SEIC Model™ Framework

Phase 1: Intensive Alignment
A 1–2 day on-site training establishes shared foundations in:
• High-Leverage Practices (HLPs)
• Specially Designed Instruction (SDI)
• IEP-to-Instruction alignment
• Co-teaching effectiveness
• Caseload management systems
• Compliance clarity
Each school leaves with a clear implementation roadmap and defined priorities.

Phase 2: Implementation & Accountability
Monthly virtual cohort sessions reinforce implementation through:
• Strategy refinement
• Reflection on practice
• Addressing emerging barriers
• Strengthening instructional consistency
These sessions ensure the work moves from theory to classroom application.

Phase 3: Solutions Lab
Facilitated, structured problem-solving sessions where educators bring real-time challenges and leave with actionable next steps.
Topics may include:
• Designing effective specially designed instruction
• Refining progress monitoring systems
• Strengthening inclusive planning
• Addressing co-teaching challenges
• Navigating compliance concerns
The Solutions Lab ensures educators never implement alone.

Phase 4: Mid-Year Regional Implementation Session
An in-person regional session designed to prevent implementation drift and strengthen instructional consistency.
During this session, participating schools:
• Review implementation progress
• Refine instructional alignment
• Address system-level barriers
• Strengthen co-teaching practices
• Engage leadership in sustainability planning
This milestone strengthens accountability and momentum.

Phase 5: Culminating Impact Summit
The year concludes with a regional impact session focused on:
• Reflection on growth
• Sharing instructional wins
• Refining next steps
• Planning for sustainability
Schools leave with a documented impact summary to guide future decision-making.
